Tumbleweed Crusher at the Wild Animal Sanctuary

We did a little volunteer work at the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado a couple of weeks ago. Aside from the obvious lions, and tigers, and bears... (we'll let George Takei finish that off). I caught a few pics of their specialized tumbleweed masher and safari vehicle. Nice truck, I wonder if this is a rescue too?

Go visit them here;

1941 Dodge G505 Weapons Carrier

Now this is what I call a Power Wagon!

Just some facts;

G505 1/2 ton 4x4 trucks were manufactured by Dodge. Some models were manufactured by the thousands and others were made in small batches.
All the G505 were built from 1941 through 1942 under War Department contracts.
WC doesn't actually stand for Weapons Carrier. The W is for 1941 or later and the C is for the truck's  1/2 ton rating.

AM General M 35A2 and M 35A3C

I spotted a 1966 AM General M 35A3C and a 1972 M 35A2 at Jax in Fort Collins while taking the Colorado Hunters Safety course with my daughter. Monstrous 6x6 military trucks, for sale; now this is a camper! Probably will need one of these for all her game...

Denver-Japan connection ?

We found these really nice old shooting patches at the home of a retired Denverite who served time with the USAF in the late 50s and early 60s. These shoulder patches are from the Itazuke Air Force Base in southern Japan, it has been closed since the early 1970s.

US Army Harley Davidson WLA model - 45 cubic inch with Tommy Gun and shovel included.

This is a US Army Harley Davidson motorcycle from World War II, the Harley WLA model. It has the flathead style motor and 45 cubic inches. Scabbard on the front springer fork with a Thompson 45 submachine gun, blanket, and a shovel, too. Nice saddlebags and seat, all in tough cowhide leather.

This bike is in great condition. It is owned by a local resident and was loaned to the Lakewood Heritage Museum just inside Belmar Park.
