Denver Zoo

We try to get down to the Denver Zoo at least twice a year. We only made it once this time around. It gets harder as the schedules start to pile up. It's a great place to stop when visiting Denver. The new Elephant Passage Exhibit is immersive and beautiful.

The animals were out in droves for Teacher Appreciation Day and to top it off we all got All You Can Eat Ice Cream from Boulder Ice Cream Company. After all that ice cream we had to go downtown and visit Rioja, one of the best restaurants in Denver. Well anywhere for that matter...

Tigers out relaxing
I dare you not to yawn.

The name is Tank.

Somali Ass... Yes, I'm not kidding.

Okapi... OK.

Still Chill.

Belmar Park in Bloom

Here are a few shots from a walk around Belmar Park in Lakewood, Colorado.
Green everywhere. Wildflowers, some flowers from a cultiavated garden, and a few old gems hidden away...

I don't know what the name of these are, but they are striking against the green in the background.

Always working, even when it is 99 degrees.

Wow ! A genuine Ford Model A, sitting quietly behind locked doors in an old barn.

A hard-working old Case tractor locked up and waiting to go to work again someday.

Usagi san ! ( Mister Rabbit )

A beautiful Tiger Lily, only a few days left before it is gone for the year.

This must be what Lakewood looked like years ago when it was mostly rural.

A good place to take a rest on a hot summer day.

Birds in RMNP

A couple shots of birds we saw on a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. Located just outside of Estes Park, Colorado, it is one of America's premiere National Parks. RMNP even boasts a local wolverine. Good luck finding it!

Ford GT40 in Estes Park Colorado

I hate it when I get in a hurry. I snapped a few pics of this Ford GT40 club in Estes Park. I got in a rush and didn't get the greatest pics with the iPhone. Crapshots. One of the rules of photography is SLOW DOWN... Gotta remember that.

Slow down and GT40 just don't mix I guess.

Anyway, I went camping for a long weekend with the family and ran across this flock of rare birds at Saint Malo Church just outside of Estes Park.

Feast your eyes.

Soaking in the Colorado autumn sun.

Check out the knock-off wheels

Driving back to Estes Park.

The church is very pretty too.

You are being watched... Mountain Garter Snake in the twigs.

Hawks and birds of prey

Birds of prey – hawks, owls, eagles, can be seen all over Denver.

Here are a couple of shots I took of these elusive creatures with my Canon Powershot

S5-IS.  That camera is smarter than I will ever be.

Still looking for my first owl pic.

This little guy is a Kestrel. Kestrels are actually Swallow-like FALCONS. They hover for prey , beating wings like a Kingfisher. (Thank you, Petersen Field Guides.)

Beautiful Colorado

Some photos of the outdoors in and around Lakewood and Littleton.
